epa01217666 A customer uses a device called ‘supersmoker’, made available to the Dutch market ahead of the smoking ban for cafes and restaurants from the first of June in the Netherlands, 09 January 2008 in Delft. Sales of the fake cigarette have increased considerably from the beginning of January, with the brand expecting to have soid 200.000 by the end of the month, as opposed to the 120.000 sold last year since it’s introduction. Supersmoker, an electronic cigarette, is made of synthetic material and works with nicotine cartridges that are placed into the device. The user can regulate the strength of the nicotine and as the smoker inhales, the end of the cigarette lights up and what appears to be a plume of smoke is released. EPA/ROBIN UTRECHT
